USFL launches revamped look as league moves closer to inaugural season

New logo aims to distinguish the new USFL as its own original brandSan Diego, Calif. (July 13, 2012) The United States Football League (USFL) unveiled its new logo today as part of a plan to establish a fresh brand identity for the growing league.
"We are building this league from the ground up, and we believe it is vital to our early success to distinguish ourselves as a new brand of USFL football representing 'Real. Fun. Football,'" said USFL President & CEO Jaime Cuadra.
The new USFL logo, which represents the league's motto of 'Real. Fun. Football' on the highest professional level, incorporates elements that pay homage to the league's roots while also positioning the league as a dynamic and modern version of its predecessors. The eight stars featured on the logo were added to represent the eight original teams expected to take part in the league's inaugural season.
Along with the new logo, the USFL launched an updated version of its official website (www.theUSFL.net) which now features the new, updated look of the league as well as expanded content and graphics that enforce the exciting approach the league is taking as it steps closer to kicking off its competition. The new look can also be seen across the league's entire network of digital and social media assets.
The USFL is planning to field eight teams for its inaugural 14-game season in 2013, kicking off in March and concluding with a championship game in June. The league has targeted a number of U.S. cities for franchises.
The USFL is designed to allow players an opportunity to play professionally, with the goal in mind of continued development for its athletes. The USFL will operate independently, but does plan to establish a collaborative environment with the intent to create relationships with other professional organizations and leagues to provide its players and personnel with the best opportunity for exposure and training that will be required advance their playing careers to the highest level of the sport.
The league will also endeavor to prepare players for life after playing football by providing mentorship and counsel to expand the athletes' awareness of opportunities inside and, especially, outside of football. Additionally, the USFL plans to enhance the fan experience by providing greater access to its players and employing technology to improve the viewing experience for its fans.
